Many studies have been conducted as far as learning through observation is concerned, and the most popular one is the Bobo Doll experiment by Bandura. The main objective was to establish whether people can acquire social behaviour through observation and imitation (Tassoni, 2010).
In the experiment, Bandura showed a film to three groups of children. The three groups were shown different variations of the film, with the first group shown an adult acting aggressively towards the doll. The second group of children were shown a film in which an adult was aggressive with the doll, but was rewarded with sweets and lemonade at the end (Tassoni, 2010)((Summative Learning Styles)
On the other hand, the final group was shown a film in which, after being aggressive to the doll, another adult told off the aggressive adult. The children were later allowed into a playroom with a variety of toys, including the doll. It was reported that children in the last group were the least aggressive towards the doll (Tassoni, 2010).
However, no significant difference was noted in the first and second groups of children who seemed to be more aggressive towards the doll.
