[ANSWER] Assessment Task 2- Suicide in Australia: Prevalence and Mental Health Promotion Programs
[Suicide in Australia: ANSWER PREVIEW]
Slightly over a year ago, the Australian Prime Minister recognised suicide as an imminent disaster and made its prevention a national priority (Suicide Call Back Service, 2019). The announcement came barely a year after the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) (2019) identified suicide as the greatest contributor of years of potential life lost and the 14th cause of deaths in the country. Approximately 2,800 Australians lost their lives through suicide in the year 2016 and, for each death, over 20 people attempt suicide (SANE Australia, 2019)(Suicide in Australia).

Total suicide deaths among people between the ages of 15 and 24 years stood at 38.4%, while that of people between the ages of 25 and 34 stood at 29.4% (Life in Mind, n.d.-a).
The same study revealed that the risk of suicide reduced proportionately among people with older ages. Compared to women, men seem to be at a higher risk of suicide. In particular, men are three times more likely to commit suicide than women (Suicide Call Back Service, 2019). Life in Mind (n.d.-a) and Orygen (2019) add that…[Buy Full Answer for Just USD 9: 3248 WORDS]
