Topic: Decision-making Tools For Nurses Discussion Board
Description:
The Nurses Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.

At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students.
The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Friday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Friday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.

The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.

Part of successfully implementing a strategic plan is involving everyone in the organization in the plan. You work as an admission coordinator for an assisted living facility that just enacted its 5-year strategic plan.
However, no one has communicated any of the components of the plan to any departments, including yours. Instead, management has chosen to include only senior-level management.

What do you think of this implementation approach?
Do you think it will be an effective strategy? Why or why not?
What would you do differently to ensure the successful implementation of the assisted living facilitys strategic plan?
Direct your comments specifically to an assisted living facilitys characteristics and how a strategic plan might be implemented in such an organization.

In your own words, post a substantive response to the Nurses Discussion Board question(s) and comment on other postings. Your response should address the DB question(s) and move the conversation forward. You will be graded on the quality of your postings, including mastery of the concept as well as critical thinking. If asked for your opinion, do not simply state that it is a good or bad idea; elaborate on your reasons and argument. Include enough detail to substantiate your thinking as well as your position on the questions or comments.

The implementation approach is not suitable for an assisted living facility. One major characteristic of such facilities is that they involve helping the residents with activities like bathing, daily decisions, and meals among others. Ideally, the junior officers are the most involved in running day to day lives of the residents. Therefore, implementing a strategic plan while only involving senior level management may not capture the actual situation. The strategy will be largely ineffective because it ignores the input of those who have constant one on one encounters with the residents of the facility.

Implementation of a strategic plan should involve everyone in the management from the top down to interest groups and even the beneficiaries themselves (NIBUSINESS, n.d.)( Decision-making Tools For Nurses Discussion Board). On the same note, an effective implementation requires a collaboration and the co-operation of all team members (Aby, 2017), otherwise, the resulting resistance could be detrimental to effective implementation of the plan. It is important to remember that the plan affects each and every person within the organization, therefore, their involvement is absolutely quintessential to smooth adoption and implementation of the plan.

The first step I would take differently is to pick a diverse implementation team with a transformational team leader. The team should involve at least one person in different capacity or level in the facility. With the primary goal of ensuring a smooth implementation of the plan, the team would be responsible for compiling opinions from everyone else including all department heads, a sample of the facility’s residents, external stakeholders, and heads of departments (NIBUSINESS, n.d.) (Decision-making Tools For Nurses Discussion Board).

It is from these opinions that the team will redraft a proper implementation framework that is inclusive and caters for the needs of everyone. Consequently, they will reduce resistance and the possibility of the plan being ineffective. Junior staff will also be more willing to participate because taking their opinions is likely to show them a sense of belonging ( Decision-making Tools For Nurses Discussion Board).
