Assessment! Serving as a student nurse was a challenging yet fulfilling experience for me. This was my first time to have a feel of the clinical setting. Under an RN’s direction, I was involved in the typical roles of a nurse, including medication administration, patient monitoring, medical records management, and patient education. My role also involved consulting with doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals in every step of the care process to ensure optimal care.

Prior to the placement, I was a bit anxious about my nursing capabilities; I was not sure I would be the best nurse as I have always desired. This self-doubt especially overwhelmed me during my first week in placement. By the end of the second week of placement, however, I had settled in and adjusted well. Interacting with patients on a day-to-day basis was what I enjoyed the most.
