Two key variables were measured in this study: exposure to military violence and PTSD symptoms (Quota et al., 2003). Exposure to military violence was conceptualized as being a victim of destruction of the family house through shelling or bombardment during the Al-Aqsa Intifada. This variable was measured using an instrument developed specifically for the study. Developed by the research department of a local community mental health initiative, the instrument was dubbed the checklist of experiences of military violence.
